Hi,
Just a very brief update on Lexington, the tobacco ban test city. I have found several bars and restaurants that are outright just ignoring the ban and have the ashtrays out. Also, since the law is enforced by the health department all you have to do is refuse to show an ID and they can't fine an individual, only Police can ask for IDs. The first jury trial on a fine is in Sept., and today 100 plus bar owners are picketing the protests. If any of this helps get a law changed I'll let you know so you can do it in your town if it has a 'clean air' ordinance. Right now I am enjoying like heck smoking indoors again, and it's almost more fun being 'illegal--KYBrian |

| Good luck. That is truely a heartwarming story that bar owners are getting together to fight the ban in Lexington. I really hope it works. They don't have ordinances in my state like that, and they will probably stay that way if you win this thing, so good luck. You can keep our free states from turning power over to municipalities if you win. It would be a great thing. I fear that if you loose, since you are Lexington, my state and other free states will turn over the power to regulate indoor smoking. |
