First, the Good News: I have a saved Adobe Reader .pdf document listing the parts for the top o matic machine, with a exploded diagram of the machine. This is also an order form for those parts.
The Bad News: I don't know which website I got it from. Also, it is for one of the newer machines which has a split in the blade (tamper) while mine has the selector switch. This is no problem for me because all I need is the [plastic] shaft bushing that the handle feeds down into.
The shipping on the order is $7.50, period. So while all I need is this $0.95 bushing, I'm probably going to order some other parts to make it worthwhile.
One part that will never need replaced is the tamper. After using the machine for months it started jamming up, especially with all the "bottom of the bag" tobacco. So I jerked the tamper blade out and discovered it is made of aluminum or some similar alloy. Bottom line; it's soft. This thing cuts the excess tobacco as well as compresses it. Now, you wouldn't go out and buy an aluminum knife for the kitchen, would you? I took my old Toolmaker training and made one out of A-2 Tool Steel, had it heat treated to Rockwell 58-60 and now even the powder goes through. I made 10 of them and sold them for $25.00 each to friends and friends of friends. This may seem like a lot, considering the machine only cost $39.95 when I bought it. But when you consider the steel cost, the heat treating cost, they actually cost more to make than I sold them for. This doesn't even factor in my time to make them.
Sorry, they're all gone. [So, Top O Matic] forget about the patent infringement suit.
But back to the original topic. If you'll post an e-mail address, and your browser will accept attachments, I'll e-mail you the .pdf order form (it's small). Also, they want a copy of your Driver's License with it to prove you're of age.
