With all the taxing horror stories and seizures of imported cigarettes, is there anywhere online you can buy from and feel relatively safe? I smoke Mistys (hence my screen name) but I'm dying to try Karelia Slims and they'd be cheaper, but I'm actually afraid to order online. I know Karelias are popular though because I've read comments about them on various forums, plus they tend to be sold out a lot at most of the online stores (so obviously, people ARE buying that way!) Isn't the danger with foreign places more that your cigarettes will be seized, rather than that you'll get hit up by your State for taxes? And some of the sites state that they'll give you a full refund in the "unlikely event" of a seizure. Can somebody give me some feedback about buying from the places in Europe, like cigmall.biz, cigline.net, 1001cigarettes.com, or any others? I'd really appreciate hearing others' thoughts on this. Thanks!

Misty,

First I say Welcome----

Bill and the gang that buy the premades seem to be happy with Cig mall.biz I would shy away from any other than an injun site and be sure not to leave a paper trail for the palefaces to follow Wink

I use bulk tobacco and have found it cheaper "Local" than going online and taking a chance on the taxes.

be careful. i was ordering from an indian reservation and the tax man busted me 4,800 dollars worth! they got the info on every carton of cigarettes i bought over a three or four year period. i've paid off half of it but it's a true hardship.

My stand is when they start demanding sales receipts from ALL vendors and send tax bills to everyone who buys out of state tax free, THEN I'll consider cooperating. Until then they can kiss my a$$.

There are lots of problems with mail-order. Some merchants are plain crooks who take your money and send nothing. Apart from that:

Non-Indians within the USA are essentially frauds. Always assume they report to your tax man. The American Indians often don't want to report, they really believe in their sovereignty, but when individual shops get singled out and threatened they can cave, and turn you in. Others just make a general policy of stooling just like the non-Indians. There are bogus Indians on the web too: not sovereign at all but middle-men rip-offs who can't be trusted in any way.

If you find an honest overseas source, order only one carton at a time, and you'll minimize chances of having your shipment seized by Customs. Wherever you order from, overseas or from here, you're almost certainly getting delivery from the US Postal Service. They still deliver but say they are trying to cooperate with the tax man. Maybe they are. Maybe you'll find out later. Soon the USPS will probably start refusing delivery to other than licensed tobacco merchants.

I don't use mail-order. It's better to find a good source of discount products within a day's drive or so, go there, buy a bunch, pay in cash, drive home carefully and don't get stopped. Now, remember when we went to the convenience store, right around the corner, and paid a fair(ish) price? That's the difference between sanity and fascism.

Well, I can say that I am very happy with http://www.cigmall.biz/
They are Russian so they have never reported earnings back to the US in the 5 years I've used them, so I have never rec'd a back tax letter. I would never trust the Indian sites because they are right here in the US and report earnings back to the gov't, so you have to eventually pay tax on any cigs you buy from them.

I checked their site last week--- most everything was "sold out" ---perhaps I tuned into their site at the wrong time.... or else I am wanting the same kind as everybody else. Just thought I'd mention it.

One good order, then this happens. I ordered a second carton of Karelias and with no explanation got an email saying my order was being refunded. Then about an hour later got this:

We are sorry to inform you that the payment for
your order ##### was
declined by our processing company due to
some processing payment
problems. The matter is our check processing
company has terminated
the agreement with us without prior notice
and we thought that it
would be fair if we refund all unprocessed
orders. However today we
found out that all the refunds we issued have
been stopped for some
unknown for us reasons.

We highly appreciate our customers and in
this situation we have
nothing to do except to advise our
customers to back-charge the
transactions for the unfulfilled orders. Only
by doing this you will
be able to return your money back.
Please contact your bank as soon as possible and
instate the procedure
of disputing our charge.

Charge posted on your checking account between
10/09/2007 - 15/09/2007
Amount of charge: 19.39 USD
Billing descriptor: E-Trading

Please keep us updated.

We kindly ask you to accept our
apologies for these great
inconveniences and hope for your soon reply.

If you have some questions or comments please
don't hesitate to contact us.
Have a great day!

And now if you go to their website... it's gone. At first I thought maybe they were just updating it to reflect the fact that they can only take Visa now, but it's been down for over 24 hours, and mail to the above address bounces.
