The underside is open and the parts seem more user-friendly and less complicated. And I don't pack the tubes tight - anymore. I still have my old blues- but haven't gotten around to ordering the parts to fix them.
Thanks Gilster. Think I'll give that one a try, and get parts for the blue one to have as a spare. I got the blue one also for my son, and from what you are saying, I'll get the gold one not only for myself but get one for my Aunt as well (yes, I'm surrounded by people on extremely limited incomes and try to help out when I can).

I honestly don't know. I don't have a car so my getting around is limited. There is a smoke shop near my bus transfer point that I can get AS from.......unfortunately, they rarely have the cans, only the pouches.....grrrrrrrrr So I am left to order online mostly, my son's too. But THIS is the real reason I plan on growing my own, so I can NOT worry about this.

I was thinking of getting one of these also, to keep in my bag with a pouch and some tubes as a just in case when out and about.

Many people on these boards write Glister - I have no affiliation with the toothpaste firm LOL
I tend to be able to overlook a lot, but not when it comes to names.........I always try to get someone's name right and am most apologetic when I screw it up. I had a boss back in NYC whose wife's name was Rhonda. He never seemed to have any problem with the "da" on her name, yet consistently called me LynDER. I finally told him that if he couldn't respect me enough to pronounce my very easy and simple name properly, then I was simply going to stop responding to him, pointing out how I never once heard him call his wife RhonDER. He laughed at me. Then several hours later called out "LynDER". I ignored him completely. He walked out to my desk and asked why I didn't respond. I explained that I had NO idea who LynDER was as my name was Lynda. He realized I was serious and never did it again (it may have also helped that another of my bosses then overheard the exchange and backed me up on my stand). |

Lynda, that store should be able to get the cans also, ask one of the owners if you can see their distributor order books and you can look yourself, if they are getting AS pouches - they most certainly should be able to buy the cans from their tobacco distributor.
Many tobacco businesses I go to will show you their order guide to buy the right products for their customers - heck, they are going to make alot more money off you if they bring in what you want.
Find out who is the tobacco distributor in your area beforehand, when in the shop ask if they buy from 'So-And-So distributors"
and ask to see the order guide because you will buy lots and lots from their store if they carry the right thing.
And tell them, something like.. 'I'll buy at least 2-3 tins a week from you consistently, what day does your tobacco shipment come in so I'll make sure I stop by to purchase"
If they are up-and-up they will show you the guide, if they are 'shady' [I've seen some outfits like that] they won't - they are probably buying out of trunks... |

They do sell the cans. They just never have enough of them. The store is part of a chain of stores here, so ordering is done through a home office and is sporadic at best concerning tobacco. I discussed it with them and it frustrates them too as they have a quite a few customers seeking the same thing. Now granted, the bulk of their business appears to be geared towards the drug crowd with all the paraphanalia I see in the shops, but they are listed as a tobacco shop also.
AS lists them as a source so I'm surprised by this. I am going to send a letter to the chain's corporate to question this poor tobacco ordering process, and also ask AS WHY their listed sources never seem to be able to get enough product often enough. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak.
I've done a search on tobacco shops here in the Phoenix area and all them that I've checked carry limited cigarette tobacco, if any. Most seem to be pipe and cigar establishments. My girlfriend will be here next month and has a car, so I'm going to do some travelling to see what we find. |
