Hello
I have had it with paying an arm and a leg for a pack of smokes. I have bought the Topomatic machine and a few different blends of tobacco and tubes. However I am having a problem making a nice cig. One thing I notice is that I feel like there is a small hole in the cig when I drag it. I feel like i am getting a lot of air. I been really careful not to do anything to the tube that could cause this. So then I started thinking well maybe I don't have enough tobacco in it. so I just add a little more and then have trouble dragging it because it is so tight. I tried a two diffent tubes thinking that could be the problem but no luck.Does any one have any trouble shooting tips or suggestion to watch for to get that perfect pack.

Tubes I have tried:

Top King full flavor
Zig Zag Light 100's
Top Light 100's

I like the El Rey papers. I love my Top-o-matic.

When I load the chamber, I always make sure I fill the corners first, then I pull a line of tobacco over the whole opening of the chamber.

The only time I had problems with them being too tight is when I packed the tobacco in the chamber with my finger.

El,

Welcome Ya came to the right place --- If something has ever broke or doesn't work one of us has had it happen Wink

On your problem ---- I'd try different papers (the light papers are made to draw air with the smoke)
As Jeep said about the packing I'd add that the moisture of the baccy makes a big difference.

If you have time to read you'll find a bunch of info in the older posts. Another source of super info is

I changed filters and changed the amount of tobacco I was packing in the tube. I am getting better at getting the right amount of tobacco in the tube but still and having trouble getting that perfect pack every time. It either to packed or not enough. Do people usually use a measure device for tobacco per tube or it it usally just done by feel and time learning. I have had some really great cigs and some ones that are to far either way to relly enjoy. Any little tips would be apprecated. Thanks!

I think it comes from practice ---- I don't measure it's just a feel on the packing, the cut, and moisture of the baccy.

Yep-practice makes perfect. Takes everyone a different amount of time, but it was about six months and two machine upgrades for me. El Rey is the best paper/tube around, IMO also.

Just for info, I pinged our database to see which 200ct tubes seem to be moving the fastest. I'll just include a few - mebbe the comparative popularity will help:

The gizeh silvertip 250s
Premier FF
Zig Zag FF
Smoking Deluxe
Gizeh Airstream

As far as tips, folks mentioned fill the ends first. They're right, that tip helps. Check the moisture too, I've seen too much moisture add to problems when injecting.

Keep at it, you'll find the right combo. While saving a ton of money!
