I, too bought a Premier Excel machine and I guess my tobacco was not dry enough for it--so it jammed up. So then I tried to remove the four base screws in order to get to the tobacco chamber(for cleaning it out)but one of the screws was kinda stripped a bit to begin with and now it's totally and completely stripped. Egads!
So I'm wondering what my chances are of sending it back to the factory or the retailer just to get that fricking screw out...I'll pay 'em(not a whole alot). Maybe it was a dud to start with--I don't know but I'm here with my little hand injector.
If they can take that screw out, clean out the chamber, I'll probably just give it to a relative or maybe try to get my money back??? Confused

They have a one year warrentee.
For repairs or warentee work check out.

www.ARBROInc.com

I sent my Excel to them about a month before the warentee was up.
They fixed up nice, worked better then new.

Mo2. I am not sure of the design of your machine. You might want to try drilling through the existing screw this should break the head of the screw or allow you to do it. Continue drilling down through the screw. When the head of the screw is removed you should be able to get the plate off. Make sure your drill bit is the size off your existing screw body and not the head. A slightly larger bit should be ok to get through the head of the screw only. When you locate a proper size drill bit to get through the body (gauge with existing screw you have removed)of the screw. You should be able to match a new screw with that drill bit. The type of screw you will need is a self taping type. This will tap its way though the existing screw that is left after drilling through it. If the screws receptacle extends out from the housing this could be tricky. You would want a Phillips head or a head that works with a small nut driver. Without knowing the actual design I am just guessing. Will the plate function with just 3 screws? If so just remove the head of the screw. I hope this helps.

I contacted the company and they'll take out the screw, clean the chamber. I haven't had time to mail it to them but they strike me as friendly, helpful people.
6 more days 'til the end of winter quarter. It was a very stressful qtr.--I can hardly wait for it to end. Wink

I guess you didn't see my reply above. The supermatic (IMO) is a POS. Try the Top-o-matic. Peace.

Sadly, while the TOP may seem better at first, the cheaper quality parts will wear much faster. I know two people (and have heard of others) who have had the brass(!) nub on the h-linkage wear away quickly and the bushing is far inferior. Why they'd use such a soft metal as brass on such a heavy wear part is incomprehensible.

Anyone with a Supermatic should get the upgraded h-linkage and cutter from ARBRO; they'll make your machine's operation far smoother and almost totally eliminate filter end voids (providing you're following the instructions and are using tobacco with the proper moisture content).

Just came from the arbro site and didn't see the upgraded link and cutter. Do you have to ask for it?
The cutter was in need of machining when I took it out of the box
I'd like to see one that was made right and didn't need redoing to work.

Depends upon the model of Supermatic you have. The best bet is to call them up (or e-mail them) because the new parts won't work on certain Supermatics. I believe the deal is if you have a "B" series serial number the parts will fit )and work far better than the original stock parts). If you have a "500" series model, tough luck...the new parts won't fit.

Good luck!
