Next time buy your cigs in person and mail to yourself USPS.

I'm in agreement with Linkup, I'd even go further.

Get someone you know who LIVES in South Carolina to buy them for you at Costco under their membership card- because every transaction there is tracked by your membership card.....

Sooner or later they Can/Will catch up to you as an out-of-state purchase and back-tax you.

I am extremely paranoid about transactions like this, there are many message threads here and elsewhere where people have been taxed for years of internet purchases, mounting up to thousands of dollars.

Buy local - or have a local buy - in cash, whenever possible

While I agree with the Paranoia I do know one thing for sure.

Jenkins act requires any cigarette seller engaged in delivery sales to report their interstate shipments to each state. In the instant case, Costco isn't shipping anything and all cigarette taxes and sales taxes are paid to SC.

I think the people who got nailed were victims of the 14 internet companies that cut deals turning over their invoices to the authorities in plea bargains.

I'm less panranoid about this transaction than turning over my credit card and personal info online overseas and hoping to get product in a few weeks.

I don't understand some people. I'm telling you, we've been using cigmall for YEARS with no problem. Why anyone would take chances like this which could cost you thousands of dollars is beyond me. It's just downright stupid.

Hey, sorry, not to come down on you too hard, but it gets frustrating over the years telling everyone again and again! I even put their banner on *every* page of the website so people would know who they were!

I used to order from yesmoke back in the day - they were great, but then they went out of business because Philip Morris sued them. After that I tried several, but couldn't find anyone dependable until I came across www.cigmall.biz.

Now I can't stress enough how AWESOME it is to order from them because everytime you do you are literally RAPING the American gov't of their ill-gotten tax money. Not 1 cent of any order from cigmall.biz goes to Federal or State taxes. It is the best feeling in the world, to be able to engage in this kind of civil disobedience.

Just did a little research... Very interesting reading!

José A. Cabranes, Circuit Judge, dissenting in part

Pretty much reinforces my rants and position. It is perfectly legal for a individual not in the business of selling cigarettes to ship cigarettes or cause to be shipped cigarettes to himself from anywhere.

Just don't deliver them and ask for cash.

As far as cigmall... $34.87 a carton for marlboro menthols versus 2 for 1 promo cartons at Costco for $30. I think I'm going to test the waters but make sure my orders are for 4 carton or less.

4 cartons for less than $70 for my personal consumption and caused to be self delivered.

Kind of goes back to the principle of being free to buy what i want and where i want.

I hear your warning but i'm compelled to figure out a legitimate legal way to get around those self serving bastards and get my smokes.

If Costco still allows a non-member to pay a 5% surcharge on cash puchases,it would benefit you to not have your acct on any cig purchase.

You know, if you all just made your own this discussion wouldn't even be necessary.

My cigarettes cost me $1.50 a pack (tobacco and tubes). Can't beat that. Laughing

That's an old case and an old precedent you're citing. This pre-dates the Jenkins act - trust me, YOU WILL GET TAXED ON THESE.

If you're frustrated, imagine how I feel - I TOLD YOU 3 TIMES TO ORDER FROM CIGMALL AND THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM!!!!

Jeez, it's like talking to a brick wall.

This guy Shapharian has stated that he is looking for a way to get Costco cigs on the cheap.I wish him luck as he probably doesn't have time to MYO.Maybe he doesn't want Russian Cigs.I don't want them either.I buy on the cheap(my undisclosed source)There is nothing wrong with debating that Costco thing here.If he is taxed,so be it.It will take a long time to find out what NY does to him.

If this Shapharian guy is putting us on as he did with the NYC butts routine, then to hell with him,he cannot be trusted to tell the TRUTH!
