If the Senecas agree to any tax increase that makes their smokes cost the same as locally, they will be out of business. If they make a deal to report purchases, they will be out of business. If the State decides to impose the tax at the wholesale level, they will be out of business.

The Senecas cannot give in to this NY pressure. There is no way that all the licensed cigarette businesses (approx 200) on Native lands will stay in business there if the Seneca Nation imposes new rules on them to collect, report,or pay more taxes upfront.

If the Seneca Nation forces their licensed cigarette businesses to sell out their customers who supported them, they will never make any substantial profits ever again!! Applies to Internet Cigarettes more so than gasoline sales.

Well history is repeating itself.

They may just push them out into the desserts. Or on a more tangible note, here is a quote from Buffalo Bill from that era:

Quote:

"I persuaded the Indian to trade horses with me, and in this way I became the owner of the buckskin steed, not as my own property, however, but as a government horse that I could ride."
