| They're still there. I just called and they have no plans of closing in the future. Call the 877 number listed on this page from 10am-4PM Pacific Time. blackhawktobaccoshop.com |

Thanks for asking about us!! We're definitely still open. We just can't answer the phones fast enough to get all the calls. We try. We know we are losing people daily, but there is just no way for us to fix the problem in the short term. Our building is packed. There is absolutely no way to get another phone in our present location. It can't be done.
But don't worry. We have started to build a new shop that is four times the size of our current store. Constructions crews labor as I write this. We are opening the second shop next to the Agua Caliente Casino (directly across the street from the US Post Office) in December/January and will be expanding our staff. The new shop is in such a beautiful location. It is about as central as you can get in Palm Springs. Their isn't going to be any smoker in the Coachella Valley that won't know about us (if there are any left now). The brick and mortar store is extremely important for us. We like being one of the few places that allow for indoor smoking.
Anyhow, the big news is that after over a year of preparations (and tons of government paperwork) we will be releasing our own brand, Black Hawk Cigarettes, in October. They'll be available in Full Flavor, Lights, Ultra Lights, Menthol and Menthol Lights in both the King Size and 100s. At first they'll be in soft packs, but eventually in hard packs too.
We also plan to eventually release Non-Filters, Menthol Ultra Lights and 120 MM Super Thins. What we really want to do, and we have lots of ideas about how to do this, is release our own flavored cigarettes. We don't particularly give a damn if they are politically incorrect or not. We like to smoke flavored cigarettes and if nobody is going to make them, we'll do it ourselves. Adults like sweets too.
We have absolutely no plans of closing either now or in the future. If you can't reach us at our toll free number, 1-877-448-6222 (also known as 1-877-44TOBAC) send us an email from our website, we'll call you.
If anyone is interested in the Black Hawk Cigarette Brand, you can find some pictures at blackhawkcigarettes.com/.
Thanks for the nice comments. |

Just wanted to say - I received my first order from Black Hawk Tobacco and just placed my second order. I think it is easier after the first order.
I like the cigarettes! |

AngrySmoker,
Care to share the details about your shop changing over to mail order only?
I am concerned about sending checks and having to resubmit my ID after using your services for the last year. Also the the ten dollar deposit, does this need to cash? |

I wait, as you are,for a detailed explanation.I think the Kaleeefornia Government had something to do with the changes.Anyone know anything?
People have to call their number to get an order thru.Bad news is ahead,I'm afraid.
Money orders do not require a deposit of $10,only check transactions. What bullshit!! |

I am really, really sorry that I have not had the chance to finish up these posts. When I got back to the States 2 months ago, I was really horrified at how bad things had gotten while I was in Germany. One of the first things that I started doing, was posting again at the Lobby. Amazingly enough, within one week of my first new post, we received a letter from the AG Department in Maryland. That letter was soon followed by 5 more from other States.
Unfortunately, that's not all that happened either. Two days after making a post about starting a Smoker's Manifesto (or supporting one), we suddenly developed a disagreement with our credit card processing company over information sharing and how we process orders. Without any type of warning, all of our credit card processing equipment was shut off. This complete shut down was directed at our brick and mortar store too. People could no longer come in to our shop and use a debit card to purchase any of the products that we sold, tobacco or otherwise.
After the CC shut down, we tried to get a new contract with a different company. During this first week, we shipped $175,000 in products without first collecting payment. We then began the process of calling those customers and notifying them of our situation. It was a total act of faith on our part. Without the ability to collect payment, any one of our customers could have ignored us and kept their shipment for free. That is not what happened, however. With the exception of one single person (Mr. Edwards, that's you. Congrats on being the only thief.), every single one of our customers stepped in and paid their debt. Whatever else happens in the next few months, I am very proud of that fact. We have the kind of customers worth defending and fighting for.
So that's where we are at now. Until we find a credit card processor that understands that we aren't going to give them any information about what we are shipping, we will not be accepting any form of payment other than checks and money orders.
Please keep in mind that this is a major struggle for us. Our staff is run down and totally strained under the circumstances. If you can't get through the phones, email us at info@blackhawktobaccoshop.com. No matter if we respond quickly or not, keep three things in mind. 1) We've never ripped anyone off. If we screw up your order during this transition period, we'll correct it. You don't have to be worried. 2) We are not going to sell you out. We will never provide anyone's information to any third party. We'd rather lose customers than betray them to keep our CC processors happy. 3) We are not going out of business anytime soon. A huge portion of our business was already using checks, money orders and cash. As I posted here over a year ago, the only safe method of payment is cash or money orders. So, we are doing fine. We are just really, really tired.
------------
Now for the "Bullshit" about the $10 deposit for accepting personal checks. What do you expect from us? What do you know about business either? Every time a check bounces, we get charged a fee. We also have to wait for it to clear the bank, so there is more work involved. SEND A MONEY ORDER IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE DEPOSIT. We just can't afford to take the loss right now with bounced checks. We are working on getting an eCheck system in place. Until then, we have no way to protect ourselves against bad check writers. Hence, the $10 deposit is in place.
I am really sorry if this makes people mad at us. In a perfect world, none of this would be happening anyhow. |
