I'd love to roll my own, but I am terrible at it and too lazy.
Maybe one day I'll start again. I was unaware commercial cigarettes support the people against us!  |

Don't give-up yet-------Kinda like sex it get's better with practice 
I had the same notion when I first started, now I can do a pack in about five minutes. that's about the time of the commercials on tv.
I usually hit the mute button and stuff 10 to 15 smokes while they're yabber-jabbin

I have the Premier supermatic -"ole Blue"
I have it mounted to an old piece of countertop which makes it easy to operate with one hand on the crank one hand changing tubes and both hands stuffing.
There is a couple of threads on this forum that explains a few alterations that will make the machine smoother and faster. I'll see if I can find a link and post it later.

With more people going to RYO, Native Reservations and to the Black Market. It is becoming more obvious from the states feuding with the tobacco companies over the MSA funds. The MSA funds are tied to market share. As the RYO trend continues and it keeps our dollars out of the state and federal governments hands. How long does anyone think it will take them to start taxing tobacco by others means? I think you will see more regulation on the amount of tobacco that can be sold retail and taxed by the ounce as an example. Taxing tubes, filters, mechanical devices for rolling are other examples. this is coming and I think we all know it. Any thoughts from the board?
I just see a future off more black market, which then bring new laws, and of course more law enforcement personel which means more revenue needed to pay for it all. Of course with this will come more seizures similar to the ones used on the lost "War on Drugs". These fools are the real group abdicted to tobacco. Tobacco revenue! They are taking the nation steps backwords. |

Nemo, I too worry about the gov't taxing RYO at the same levels.
I think we need to source out farmers-growers.
I've seen a few growers that sell unprocessed tobacco leaves to consumers, I'm hoping other farmers will follow suit and offer the same.
As for the tubes, that will be trickier, guess we'll need to go to papers - if that time comes...Art supply houses will see a boost in their specialty paper sales. |

I just thought I'd shout out that I'm a recent MYO convert myself. I normally smoke American Spirit, and the one place round me I know has them sells them for 4.80, about. Not too bad. But yesterday I bought a McClintock set of a tube filling machine, 2 oz. of tobacco, and 200 tubes. But me being loyal to my tastes, I also bought a 5.29 oz. can of American Spirit tobacco. I'm close friends with the owner of the store, and he gave me a demo of how to make these, and he told me that that one can of American Spirit will make about two cartons, give or take a bit depending on how you much you pack into the tubes. Now the can was about 11 bucks... two cartons of American Spirit would be close to 90 bucks. Cost of everything I mentioned above? 20 dollars. I'm still stunned.
As for the taxation... I live in Pennsylvania, NE, so I have no alternate places besides the internet (New Jersey taxes the [doodee] out of tobacco, and last I heard New York isn't too cheap either), so I may have to just deal with the few more cents. To tell you the truth, I'm not totally pissed off. Besides (for us in PA), Rendell has started to put casinos in Pennsylvania. We won't turn into any Nevada, but the amount of money made from the casinos will lower our other taxes considerably, which may or may not equal out the extra taxes on tobacco. But that's just my 2 cents. |
