Did anyone else see a sign on the highway that says:

Quote:
Smoke. Because no one should infringe upon your right to cough up black phlegm

When I first saw this sign, I was on I-95. I was honking and cheeing with excitement. It was the first public sign that I saw in a long time advocating smokers rights. Then I thought about it a little more. Could that really be an anti-smoking sign?

Tom, It very well sounds to me like an anti-ad. It may be one from that damned legacy foundation or the truth.

Although, this turn of events does give me an idea: why can't some rich smoker (and there are plenty of them - stars, and the like) give up some of their royalties to rent a highway billboard and put some pro-smoking message on there? Lord knows we've been bombarded by the anti's for long enough, and this is certainly a worthy cause.

Um, back to why I think it's an anti ad: If it said plainly: Smoke. Because no one should have to give up their rights. Then I'd say it's pro-smoking. The bit about coughing up black phlegm makes me believe it's an yet another, unfair, uncalled for jab to smoking (and therefore smokers).

You're probably right, Rick. It probably is an anti sign, but It is the coolest anti-smoking sign I've ever seen. It didn't bother me like the one where they show the burning $5 bill, or the licking an ashtray one. This is a strange sign, because it doesn't have any Nazi logos on the bottom, like the american heart association or the american lung association. It just has a surgeon general's warning on the bottom. Now that I know it is an anti sign, I will throw my butt at it next time I pass it rather than raise my butt to it.
