Our elected leaders are idiots. Jurors are idiots (ask OJ). Why? Because people are imperfect. Politicians can't solve your problems. They can only promise to do it and hope that you are stupider than they are and you believe what they're saying.
Which brings me to #90 (at least I think I'm on 90, what the hell do I know, I'm an idiot) on the list of Signs of the Apocalypse.
90. Add idiots and retards to the list of people in NJ (in addition to geese, transexuals, rug munchers, colon comrades, corrupt politicians) who rank higher on the social pecking order than smokers, and thus deserve Gubmint protection against discrimination.

State Senate President Richard Codey has introduced a bill to remove a 150-year-old clause to the state Constitution stating "no idiot or insane person should enjoy the right of suffrage."

Either we are all brilliant and have crystal balls, or everyone else is really, really, really stupid. I'm not a NASA rocket scientist so I am really starting to think that most people are really stupid and I just look like a genius in comparison. Kind of like being the world's tallest midget.
Point is, the anti-obesity and anti-drinking activists have learned their lessons well from anti-tobacco. They are following the successful playbook carefully. You have to prove harm to others before the sheeple will get on board (although somebody has to explain to me how second hand poker hurts anyone and needs to be banned, so I guess they don't even need an excuse).
If some 390 pound fat ass eats 4 double quarter pounders with cheese, 2 large fries and washes it all down with a XL 32 oz. sugary soda, and then he gets type 2 diabetes...well then, we are all paying for his indulgence and food addiction through higher taxes to support socialized medical care like Medicare and Medicaid or through higher premiums for our private medical plan.
Voila, Second Hand Obesity.
And these idiots thought the professional grant junkies would go back to their day jobs once all the smokers were herded into boxcars and shipped to a concentration camp!

| the sad thing is its only going to get worse. the worlds not going to end anytime soon. but the peckers in charge will make it worse and worse till we wish it would end. they suck all the fun out of the world and trade it for lame safety. i grew up around smokers, unsafe toys, transfat, drugs, rideing in the backs of trucks [ect] and im still here as are most of the people i grew up with. |

| Here's another one, a SIXTY year old man - who looks his age - couldn't get a pack of cigs because his driver's license had expired (by 5 days). Are our priorities straight here? How about the outcry over "Avatar" and the smoking scenes - no qualms about the violence inthe film, though. |
