| My husband and I own a bar in Ohio and starting tomorrow, we have to be smoke free. I am sick to death of this country and those who have spit in the face of all those who have fought for our freedoms. What a dishonor to them that we give away our freedoms so willingly. I'm sick of the do-gooders who make decisions for me and for our business. How is this even legal? How do voters get to tell a business what they can and can't do? They don't make our mortgage payments, pay payroll taxes. And those who voted to make Ohio smokefree don't know the can of worms they opened because this just opened the floodgates to control us. I'm mad as hell that we just sit back and take it. Well, I worked with Smoke Less Ohio to get signatures and I've written several letters to editors. The ONLY people who have the right to tell us what to do in our bar are our customers. THEY pay the bills. And they WANT TO SMOKE. I'm disgusted, pissed off and we'll probably lose our business. Hope that makes them happy. |

Welcome, Pam. As a resident of the gulag known as OheilO myself, I feel your pain.
I sub-contract in a local fab-shop. Come tommorrow, we can't smoke in it.
But, the Lincoln mig-welder can, and the torches can. And the grinders will continue to throw their dust.
We have toxic fumes of all sorts, thick grinding dust, you name it.
But tobacco smoke? Oh, Hell No! But, I have a feeling we'll be smoking anyway.
Shows how ignorant these worms are doesn't it. Private property rights should have never been put on a ballot for the sheeple to vote on. And that's exactly what happened.
There's always a way. It will make itself known. Hang in there.
BTW, the best place for this would be in smoker's rights. That's where the action is.
And, welcome, again. |

Dear Pam,
I too have been wondering when people are going to get mad enough to start speaking up. I can't help but notice that these sites have VERY FEW members and usually not many online. I also notice that there is not any concensus among smokers and no united front. For example, I voted NO to both Ohio Q#4 & #5. I am a smoker and I see no reason to ban smoking anywhere, and would not vote for a ban to save my soul. I do wonder if adding the SmokeLess option to the ballot split the votes for less infringement of rights, and therefore the majority ended up with the total ban. I try to keep hope that these bans will one day, somehow, be reversed.
