I absolutely can't believe it! Now, on top of banning cigarette smoking most places, the government is actually trying to pass laws to ban foods with transfat in them!! I am becoming more and more alarmed at how far the government is going at eroding our personal rights. Gee, do you suppose they will let us eat food with transfat in it if we pay HUGE taxes on it? Do you think they will ban sugar next because that can make you overweight, which can cause high blood pressure, etc. etc? When will it stop??

Here's the latest: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/290842_alcohol02.html?source=rss

He said the expanded ban was in response to complaints about drunken people weaving, yelling and sometimes urinating, in public.

Liquor board spokeswoman Susan Reams said the six state-run liquor stores in downtown Seattle hadn't shown a greater increase in sales since Pioneer Square's restrictions went into place three years ago.

This article's real similar to the strategy they used for smoking bans.

It's also brought to you by our good friends at Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. http://www.rwjf.org/portfolios/resources/grantsreport.jsp?filename=020021s.htm&iaid=143&gsa=1

If you think about it, the source I got this from was correct in stating "they are now targeting the second-hand effects of alcohol." Check it out: http://www.cleanairquality.blogspot.com/

Interesting note: The British once banned gin, but not whiskey, because the poor people drank gin and the people making the rules drank whiskey.

Call for children's food ad curbs

European health ministers are being asked to sign up to an anti-obesity charter stating that children should not be "exploited" by food companies.

The World Health Organization is holding a conference in Turkey later this month where, it is expected, the charter will be adopted.

Here we go...total world control nannyism

Here's a lovely quote:

Quote:
France has said all TV ads for processed foods, or products with added fat, sweeteners or salt must carry a health warning - or the advertiser must help fund health campaigns.

Advertisers MUST HELP FUND health campaigns - Sound Familiar?

It all starts with 'It's for the children' Evil or Very Mad

I TRULY do not understand why more people aren't becoming concerned. We have seatbelts, cell phones, cigarettes and now food being regulated. In the Chicago area I've heard concerns being expressed over people adjusting the radio/CD knobs and not paying attention to the road while driving. What's next? What is it going to take for more people to wake up and realize there is a problem with government control?

How about a ban on tag, and I don't mean the cheap cologone that's supposed to make you irresistable to women?
http://www.dispatch.com/news-story.php?jrl=405614&story=220409&rfr=nwsl&clk=48901

Not good enough? How about a ban on sattellite television discs because they are an "eyesore?" http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2006/10/17/city_may_banish_tv_dishes_from_view/

We can't forget about those nasty "For Sale" signs in cars either:
http://www.dispatch.com/news-story.php?jrl=405614&story=220409&rfr=nwsl&clk=48901

Glendale bans the words “for sale” from parked cars because it thinks people will walk into traffic and get run over while looking at them.

Also don't forget leaf-blowers: http://www.nonoise.org/quietnet/cqs/other.htm

You also can't forget "undesirable" individuals who just don't quite meet your standards. This, from "The London Telegraph.":

Ban for boy with two snacks
By David Sapsted
14/10/2006

A boy aged 10 has been banned from his school dining hall because his packed lunch broke the government's healthy eating guidelines.

The father of Ryan Stupples is protesting after his son was forced to eat in the headmaster's office at Lunsford primary school, Larkfield, Kent, because his lunch contained two snacks, instead of one.

Ryan's lunch consisted of a sandwich, fruit, fromage frais, cake, mini cheese biscuits and a bottle of water. The cake and the biscuits broke the snack limit. They were discovered when a teacher checked his lunch box.

Michael Stupples, 41, said: "What 10-year-old boy won't get upset when he's out of a dining hall in front of everyone and made to eat his lunch in the head teacher's office?"

Malcolm Goddard, the headmaster, said: "We take healthy eating very seriously and everyone is aware of our new policies."

Better not eat that extra snack.

Hey LLS, here's another one for you: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2090-2438514,00.html

The nutritionist, who has advised the Scottish executive on school meals, believes that people should be banned from eating burgers and chips on public transport and that supersize portions of fizzy drinks and popcorn should be phased out in cinemas.

Isn't that how they started with smoking? Public transport and movie theatres?

Although Anderson said she wasn’t “gunning for a nanny state”, she added that it was time for Scots to take responsibility for their diet and recognise its impact on their health. She added that the social acceptability of eating fast food in public, such as on buses and trains, had to be challenged.

Say what? She's not gunning for a nanny state but wants the Scots to take responsibiltiy? Taking responsibility means an individual makes a responsible choice it doesn't mean banning every [freakin'] thing you feel people shouldn't do. Banning is what the nannystate is. They call idiots like this nazis for a reason, namely the nazis were doing the exact same thing as far as smoking, obesity and drinking back when the third reich held power.

Hey man, check this out: http://www.smh.com.au/news/technology/company-tracks-staff-by-satellite/2006/10/30/1162056902623.html

But yesterday the company's managing director, Brian Evans, said most walkers supported the move.

"The professional people who do this job are happy they can now prove they have done a good job," he said.

Ever notice how, whenever someone's employees or just citizens in general get [doodee] on, the first thing the oppressive dictators do is try to make it sound like a good thing.

I'd like to say, "Most people can see through the bullshit." but the election results are telling me otherwise.
