I'm voting for Blackwell too, but think he's toast, due to to the taft/noe/ney shit. He's way behind in the polls. And the reason dewanker is doing better (dead heat) is because the asshole is an INCUMBENT-and, as I've always said-just holding the office is 98 % of getting re-elected. That bastard is the one I want gone. I'd rather have a socialist who'll-fuck me to my face than one who'll stab me in the back. And I have no idea where Strickland or Brown stand on this issue-but I DO know Dewanker is a rabid anti-smoker-as is Taft-as is Montgomery-as is Voinovich-and I want as many RHINOS out as possible.

Good post, NK.

Here's some more of that 'fair and balanced reporting'

"Issue 4 – masterminded by big tobacco companies - would amend the Ohio Constitution to take away local control, nullify a vote of the people, and roll back some of the protections from secondhand smoke currently enjoyed by the residents of Columbus."

Notice no one mentions protection of private property rights, or freedom of choice here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, as expected, they make it out to be a ballot initiative soley supported by the evil empire/'big tobacco' (thank the fucking Klintons/Gore/and the ratmedia for that lasting term). Not one mention of the Ohio small business association, the Ohio beverage association, the Ohio restaurant association, etc;etc. who are backing this bill. As my Grandmother used to say: "A lie by omission is still a lie." Evil or Very Mad

Don't know where his opponent, Brown, stands on it.

Sherrod Brown was an honorary co-chair for the ANTI-SMOKER Legacy Foundation's Code Blue Campaign...

and according to ASH, was instrumental in inveiling those "secret" RJR documents to Congress in 2002...

Well, then I'll have to go third party on that spot. My point is, party affiliation doesn't mean a damned thing. Smokers have gotten screwed in Ohio worse under the RHINOS for the last eight years than we ever did under the cRATS. I can't see rewarding DeWanker for it. We do have SOME conservatives left, both dems and repubs, but they're mostly in the rural areas.

ANTI SMOKERS on the ballot in NH and funded by tobacco free kids:

"The Tobacco-Free Kids Action Fund today launched an independent, direct mail and voter contact campaign in support of New Hampshire State Senate candidates Harold Janeway (District 7) and Betsy Devries (District Eighteen) because of their commitment to reducing tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. The campaign will contrast the positions of Janeway and his opponent, incumbent Sen. Robert Flanders, and Devries and her opponent, incumbent Sen. Andre Martel. Both Janeway and Devries strongly support a statewide smoke-free workplace law that would protect all New Hampshire workers and families from secondhand smoke. Both incumbent candidates voted against a smoke-free New Hampshire."

"Rick Schwachenwald (D) was elected to City Council in 2002. He currently serves on the Parma Heights Utilities, Streets and Sidewalk Committee and the Ad-Hoc Committee for Community Development. He also serves as City Council representative on the Parma Heights Planning Commission. Rick has been a Parma Heights resident since 1978."

Sponsor of an ordinance that would have banned smoking in cars when kids were passengers.

Rep. John Moolenaar of Midland(R), sponsored this doozie:

Smoking in a motor vehicle with a passenger under 4 years old would become illegal in Michigan .

An R and D. Affiliation doesn't seem to matter. A nanny is a nanny.
Remember these people.

Somebody should have told me that this is where all the action was. On "Smoker Friendly Resources"

Like many voters, I'm too stupid to figure it out myself. (I wait for the negative attack ads while I'm watching Judge Judy to tell me who I should vote for) That leads me to my next point. We can make a huge difference. I'M GETTING A RAGING CLUE RIGHT NOW.

Seriously, most people don't vote. It's a fact. So only the motivated hardcore supporters get a say. We smokers have numbers. We just need to mobilize.

I learned this lesson on a smaller scale in 1988. I was a member of a fraternity and the student body president was hostile to the greek system. The president was a non-Greek. At an IFC meeting, it was decreed that every sorority and fraternity member should vote. We marched down there en masse while most dorm folks didn't even know there was an election going on.

We won by 95-5%. The douchebag was gone and we installed our own leader.

It's all about organization. It should be up to the tobacco companies. While we're waiting for them to lose enough money to get their attention and realize we can Roll our own or buy Native American cigs....

Anybody have any ideas on how to get out the vote?

The only thing I know to do is to put up flyers in bars and tobacco shops.
Believe it or not, a lot of people notice them.

Posting like this may not seem like it does much good, but sites like this are what got my attention in the first place, and showed me how fucked up things are getting. If I didn't read these blogs and sites, I still wouldn't know this shit had gone this far down the river.

We'll add TOM KEAN JR. (R) Nj. senate) to anti-smoker polits while we're here.
