Sue Jeffers will also be getting my vote, even though she only got 17% of the primary. I spoke with her once on the phone and she seems to actually give a [doodee], plus we agreed on what a dickhead the author of the smoking ban, Dave Thune, is.

Check out St. Paul's new mayor Chris Coleman. This asshole only won because his predecessor, Randy Kelley, said he supported Bush. First thing Coleman does is sign off on a smoking ban in St. Paul. Second thing he does is gets seen having a cigar indoors at a cigar shop before the ban takes effect. Third thing he does along with members of the city council who supported the ban, Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak and president of Clearway Minnesota is rent a horse and buggy and goes bar hopping on the first day of the ban.
Did I mention that yesterday, himself and the St. Paul city council approved a 9.9% property tax increase? The increase was approved 4-3 and oddly enough the same four who voted for the smoking ban, along with the new retard mayor, voted for the increase.
I have a faint recollection of the same thing being said of Jesse "the mind" Ventura a few years ago...
Thing was, Jesse had a dude managing his campaign who really, really knew his [doodee]. I think the guy's in Texas now and unless I read it wrong, I believe he's working with Kinky Friedman.
Say what you want about Ventura but I will give him credit for one thing: When MADD started up their usual bullshit claiming we needed tougher DWI laws, he fired back immediately that the drinking and driving laws were tough enough.
So I've got a lot more respect for him than current governor Tim Pawlenty who kisses ass on the liberals a little too much for my tastes.
Also keep an eye on Gail Dorfman (D) Minneapolis. This [freakin'] troglydyte is near militant in her hatred of smokers and immediately tries to bring children into issues. |

| YES!! May not seem like much, since it was only three, but it makes me smile, especially their ringleader, RHINO Cornell. |

Mauree Gingrich (R)
Fred McIIlhattan (R): has LP opposition-Michael Robertson

Quote: I applaud the American Cancer Society for all they do to eradicate smoking. Their local, state and national efforts help to discourage young people from taking up this deadly habit and the resources they provide have helped numerous smokers quit.

Where could I find this info for Ohio?
I know all the Columbus smokefree shills (all dims)
Otherwise, I really don't know who the others are.
Would rather leave a few lines blank on the ballot if BOTH candidates up for office are anti nannies. |

| DeWhiner is a smoker-hater, as is RHINOvich, but rhinovich isn't up for re-election this time around, unfortunately. Don't know where his opponent, Brown, stands on it. I just want DeWanker gone. Sweaty Betty (Montgomery) is a smoker-hating rhino too. My philosophy this year is, get rid of as many rhinos as we can, while the mood is right (Taft, Ney, Noe, and all the other arrogant country-clubbers here have [freaked] the party in Ohio up for decades perhaps). If you can't bring yourself to vote for a dim, then go libertarian or another 3rd party. |

Well, for those that aren't quite so aware in Columbus, let it be known:
http://council.ci.columbus.oh.us/council_news/advisories/Advisories_80.asp
ANTI-SMOKERS in RED
"City Councilmembers Habash, Tavares, Kevin Boyce, Michael Mentel, Mary Jo Hudson, Maryellen O’Shaughnessy, and Pasty Thomas – along with support from Mayor Michael Coleman – will sponsor on a Council Resolution urging voters to say No on State Issue 4 and Yes on State Issue 5."
"In Columbus there are seven members of City Council, a Mayor, a City Auditor, and a City Attorney. All officeholders are independently elected citywide and have four-year terms. Municipal elections are held on odd-numbered years. The City Attorney, City Auditor and three Councilmember seats are elected at one election. The Mayor and four Councilmember seats are elected at the next election."
In Ohio's Governor's race, correct me if I'm wrong...Ken Blackwell (R) seems to be the best choice of the 2 evils... |

Good post, NK.
Here's some more of that 'fair and balanced reporting'
"Issue 4 – masterminded by big tobacco companies - would amend the Ohio Constitution to take away local control, nullify a vote of the people, and roll back some of the protections from secondhand smoke currently enjoyed by the residents of Columbus."
Notice no one mentions protection of private property rights, or freedom of choice here.
I agree, Naptown, that Blackwell is the only choice we have.
I was lurking at smoker's club forums, and most of the Ohioans there are screeching about how awful Blackwell is, and saying the papers aren't left-leaning. They're supposed to be for smoker's rights, but it sure doesn't look like they're going to be much help, IMHO. They're basically supporting banners by supporting strickland. I don't think there's any socialist bill that doesn't make folks like him wet their pants with glee.
They should be reminded, that if they want a kalifunia style ban here, then they should be sure to vote for strickland. |
