I am wondering, since NYC law currently prevents shippers from doing business with the larger online cigarette dealers, would opening a website and sending cigs into NYC circumvent this law? I mean, if one had their return addy. on the package the "cigarette police" won't know whether it's cigs, or a sweater from your aunt bertha. Let me know, as I am in college, get my cigs fairly cheap and would like to open up an online shop to provide a service to the NY smokers who cannot order from the larger online merchants. Like I had said, instead of the return address saying something like cheapsmokes4u, it'd just have my name, a po box, etc.... nothing more.

Rick;
I think you would have a hard time with that because YOU would be the one shipping into New York, and that's the part that breaks the law. So you would now incur all penalties associated with shipping an "illegal substance" into NYC ( I never thought I'd live to see tobacco become a controlled substance! )

Bill, I wasn't sure which is why I asked for feedback in the 1st place.

Don't tell me they have tobacco sniffing dogs LOL.... as I'd stated in the post, how would they know if it was cigs or a sweater???

Ah well, at least I tried. If I lived in NY, I'd have to live on the state line where some of these Indian Reservations seem to be... $30 carton would be worth saving the $45 in taxes that NY charges... shoot, that'd pay for anyone's gas money by just taking a drive and buying 1 carton.

You can take your chances, they wouldn't be able to tell what's in the package. But all they would have to do to pull a sting is order from you and have you ship it to them, and then they can bust you.
