Are they a such thing as fake marlboros? Cuz I was at my usual convenient store to buy a pack a Canadian brand when the cashier asks if I'm interested in Marlboro Lights...I usually buy a pack of 25 cigarettes for $7 CAD(about $5 USD) and he was selling the marlboros for 5 dollars. I bought a pack and didn't notice anything different from these to the ones that my friend bought me in the U.S. and the box looked the same, and usually if there was a store in Toronto that sells marlboros, they would go for about $10-$14 CAD. So right now I am scratching my head wondering why for $5??

Note: Canadian laws prohibit the sales of any cigarette brand that does not list the ingredients/contents in them and this is the funny thing about the amount that they come in the packaging, Canada is probably the only country that I notice that sells cigarettes in packs of 25(slide box instead of flip-top box), I have never seen 25's in the U.S. or China(Hong Kong).

I didn't think that tehey sell marlboros in Canada, but maybe they do now since they list their ingrediants. They were definately duty free, or purchased from a low tax state like VA or NC. Look on the side of the box, if it says 5 miles, made in Richmond, then they're real cigarettes. Open up the pack and smell the inside. Marlboros have a unique smell. It smells like a tobacco/paint thinner mix, unless they're NY Marlboro's; that's another story, but they're probably not. Also, you can look at the tobacco in the cigarette to see if it's real. It should be 3 different colors. Light, dark, and really dark. The imitations just use light tobacco, bright or burley, then add chemicals till they match the marlboro flavor.

I think they are real then, it does say Richmond VA on the side and I teared a bit of one of the cigarette to check the colours, and there are light, dark and ver dark tobacco. As for the smell, I got a bad nose so its real hard for me to distinguise them through smell.
Oh yea, we do have Marlboros here that are legal but its the canadian blend which is really bad tasting.

They sound real. Those are untaxed or low taxed cigs from the US. If there's no state stamp on the bottom, they either came from North Carolina or an Indian Reservation. North Carolina is a low taxed state, and it's the only state that doesn't stamp cigarettes. A carton of Marlboros is about $22 there. Reservations sell marboros tax free for about $24-$28/carton. I think a Canadian man drove to upstate NY, bought a truckload of marlboros, then sold it to shops in Canada. People from Jersey where I live drive to NC, or an Indian reservation and buy a truckload, pay cash of course, then put fake stamps on the cigarettes and sell them for a hefty profit. This is a big organized crime business. I'm happy to see it has spread to Canada. I like to see cigarette crimes, becasue it makes the govt realize the monsters they created.

I'm back with a new fake Marlboro from another source(a friend of a friend). Anyway my friend gave me a pack of these marlboro lights that look identical to the real thing and asks me if I can tell the difference...I don't usually smoke marlboros(since they are not sold in Canada) but from my recollection, they were never hard to inhale, I mean sucking from the cigarette which would be a sign that it would be fake, are the holes in a cigarette butt from a Marlboro light easy to tell? If they are, another sign that they are fake since I could hardly notice them.

Any input on this?

Marlboro's burn extremely fast except in NY. They are very easy to inhale, and they smell like a combination of gasoline and oil like you put in a leafblower, except for NY cigarettes. You have to sniff the open end of the cigarette to tell.

Yup I can very well comfirm that my friend got some fake marlboros.
From what I can tell:
Filter - The filter seems extra bouncy when they are squeezed and reverts to it's circular form. Also ripped it apart and notice that the filter doesn't look like any of the ones I have see, the materials seem very much more curly than straight.
Cigarette: Burns very very slow, I was smoking outside and dumped the ash over snow and the ash looked like metal shavings pattern. While the cigarette burns very slowly, it does commonly go out at times.

They are priced very cheap from what I heard but I am not willing to kill myself way faster by smoking inferior cigarettes. Only other solution I am considering is rolling my own cigarettes now since the price of cigarettes have once again recently gone up in Toronto(Canada) which is currently about $8.50CAD for 25 'value' brand cigarettes and probably a little more for a brand like Canadian Kool or other name brands.

hey,
i have recently been buying Swiss made Marlboro's and i was wondering if these were fake.. they are extremely fast burning the packaging look 100% real but the actual cigarette looks a little flimsy.. like when u squeeze the cigarette where the filter is the paper seems completly unattached to the actual filter.. and smoking one doesnt satisfy my cravings at all, and i find myself smoking alot more when i smoke these cigarattes than the US ones... i live it toronto, canada too and i get a carton for $45 CDN (around $40US) which is considered pretty cheap compared to Canadian Cigarettes which go for around $70-$80 a carton... i buy them from a guy i used to work with!
on the side is says "FOR DUTY FREE SALE ONLY" and "Made under authority of Philip Morris Products S.A. Neuchatel Switzerland

do you guys think these are fake or authentic?

hi, i recently bought a carton of marlboro reds from this pakistan guy. since im in canada, marlboro's are scarce and the last time i smoked one was about a year ago. when i tried smoking the new marlboros i got, the taste didn't seem as good as last time and the font on the carton and cigarette seemed to be a skinnier font than the ones ive seen before. however everything else seems the same, like the pack, with the five miles thing and everything. these marlboro's seems to be the american version since it says made in usa. i have asked around a few ppl and a few have said it's fake while the other few have said it was real, so im confused. is this real or fake?

The Five Mile thing as you put it is extinct. Marlboro discontinued the Five Mile thing months ago!
