Since the price on cigarettes are rising here up North(Canada), I'm considering to save some money investing rolling/making my own cigarettes.
Anyway I'm looking for probably the cheapest and most durable cigarette roller, filters and specific tobacco(menthol) and lastly a reliable place to buy these online.

I know absolutely nothing about making my own cigarettes so feel free to explain the neccessary points in making my own cigarette.

Thanks!

You're in the right forum for the roll your own. Click forums roll your own, and there's topics on machines, tobacco, maintence, etc. Go under the RYOT sources topic. All the links in the forums are good sources. You have to call them about shipping to Canada though. It is illegal, so of course they'll charge more. I see www.smokersoutletonline.com
ships to Canada with a 40% surcharge. It'll cost you about $12-14 a carton. It's not too bad, and it's still way cheaper than buying in a store for you. An excel is a good cheap machine. Premier tubes are the cheapest, house tobacco brands are the cheapest. Smokers outlet would be smokers outlet blend. A lb of tobacco makes about 2.5 cartons. It's about 7oz a carton.

If you go by that stuff your own blend, it'll cost you $7.50/carton, even with your surcharge, it's not that bad.

I've been buying from "SmokersOutlet" for about a month, I too am a menthol smoker, I found that the Smokers Outlet Menthol Light is not a strong menthol and I use the Elrey tubes (both the light and the full flavor ones) as my regular smokes. Just ordered a lb. and 2 boxes of tubes for 22.88 shipping included. The last lb. I got about 450+ smokes from it.
I've tried both ways to do the menthol thing, using menthol tubes and regular tobacco or menthol tobacco and regular tubes. The menthol tobacco and regular tubes is a cheaper way to go.
MYO is not a hard thing to master but you will make a few mistakes while learning, I use an Excel machine and have not had the opportunity to use anything else yet but I'm really happy with it so far, I've been do it since Nov. of last year and smoke 1.5 a day and have had no problems so far!!!

That's a great idea for Canada. Let us know if they come through. YOu're still paying less than $15 a carton.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm considering to split this with a friend at first seeing it's approximately $60 for a carton of cigarettes here. Later if we both stick to making our own, one of us will eventually get our own so that we won't have to waste time making double the amount of cigarettes for 2 people.

I say this because at first, I thought the machines/rollers would cost a pretty penny but seeing how excel is $25 which sounds great, we might just buy it seperately. Anyway, while I'm on this subject, I'm interested on how this works(rolling you own cigarette), so basically tubes are cigarettes without the tobacco and I use the manchine which is loaded with tobacco into the tube? Doesn't seem that difficult Smile
One thing I might have to purchase now is a metal cigarette box for the cigarettes Wink

I just joined the RYO wagon today. I bought the Excel this afternoon. It's very easy to use, just a matter of getting the hang of it. My first 20 I couldn't get filled to the tip. I tried another 20 tonight, I managed to get half of the to the tip. You just have to get a feel for it. I remember I tried this RYO years ago with the cheap kits from local food stores, what a joke, but I can't believe how well these things work now.

Another suggestion is to ask a friend that rolls (either tobacco or gunja) how to roll with your hands. I know it sounds funny but when you're at work it's a lot more portable to carry the little bag and rolling papers. Also, you probably will find you don't smoke as much when you roll it because the tobacco is more potent and pure.

My sister said in SC there are plenty of places to get flavored tobacco. She used to smoke peach which she rolled.

Just a thought.......but the other flavors are very nice. The peach was extremely smooth...and actually, not only is rolling cheaper but it's also sensible because there are no fillers. The tobacco is fresher and you don't tend to smoke as much.

Been a long time but after my brand of cigarettes is still raising in(20 cents recently) I am finally going to buy a injector. I did some calculations of different ways of ordering it since I don't want to be slammed by the surcharge but it seems there's only a $5 difference.

Here's how I calculated it:
Prices in CAD.

Smoker's Outlet:
starter kit + 40% surcharge + shipping = $75.68

Ebay(injector) + Smoker's Outlet(tubes and tobacco)
Premier Excel Injector("$29.08") + shipping("$18")
Tobacco($5.99 to $8.99) + Tubes($1.99 to $2.79) + 40% Surcharge +Shipping("$7.78")
=$71.07(Machine + Menthol Tubes[x2] + 16oz Tobacco)

75.68 - 71.07 = $4.61 difference

Thinking I should just get it all from smokers outlet. Only problem now is if I can order tobacco from America or import it over up here... Mad

Edit: I just read something that may allow me to buy tobacco from smokersoutlet:
"Most products that are sent to a Canadian and worth CDN$20 or less are not subject to duties or taxes. Exceptions to this exemption include: tobacco, books, periodicals, magazines, alcohol, and goods ordered through a Canadian post office box or intermediary. Items valued at more than $20 are subject to GST, HST and PST, as well as duties if the goods are not manufactured in North America."

Got it from here:
