OK, I work with someone who has been saying for years "The Feds are gonna bust you, you're doing something illegal buying cigs online". I was like yeh ok whatever. I always thought that the Indian reservations were allowed to sell txfree cigarettes as part of the lousy deal they brokered when the Pioneers were, like still Pioneers, and Gen Custer etc. But now I saw the story on the news and then I saw mega posts on this site, so I am jumping in with BOTH FEET into the MYO camp.
I started with that Bugler hand stuffer and I got the hang of it pretty quickly... I still think I can spin them up by hand quicker (I have had alot of practice ) but alas, no filter, so my wife wont go with that because then it looks like we're sparking up something else....
But I found the process too slow and ordered the Premier SuperMatic. I understand from my meanderings here, you can crank em out pretty fast with that sucker.
But I must say I went locally for the hand stuffer, the tubes (bugler) and some Amer Spirit "original blend" pouches and WHAT a difference in the quality of the smoke. I was smoking the Amer Spirit blue softpacks but the ones I made seem to me even more flavorful.
Honestly I probably ordered online for about 4 years, 10 cartons every 2 Months for me and my wife. If I get a letter about that I will be seriously be unable to remit that kind of payment ... I smoked 'em, I didn't sell them...
Does anyone know If I order MYO tobacco online from the Indian vendors can I still get [beeyotch] slapped with a letter from the tax collectors about that too? |

I really don't know. I would ask the vendor straight out, via email, or some other way that provides you a paper trail if all taxes or other fee's, duties, etc are paid.
My understanding of bulk tobacco, is that these fee's, with the exception of sales tax is paid on the wholesale price (in most cases), which leads me to beleive that the vendor pays them up front. This is only a guess though, but I can't for the life of me figure out how a consumer would be expected to know the "wholesale" price of a product he buys? |

Well, How would you really know the tax implications of purchasing tobacco from a Sovereign Nation? (I think that's the term)
I always had heard that you could buy cigs from reservations out on Long Island (I am orig from NYC) and pay no tax. I figured online would be the same thing really, except I paid to have them shipped instead of driving across the GW to go buy em. I THINK I read somewhere in these posts about the taxes being paid upfront or something about excise tax instead of whatever the other tax is

| There are no state taxes on SOVEREIGN land. They will have to change laws and break treaties to implement taxes. Sovereign land is IN TRUST with the Federal government. |

| The bulk tobacco tax is added into the wholesale price, but the excise taxes are too. The indians get to subtract that from the wholesale price, so the states can add it back in. It's only a few dollars a pound, but they may add late fees and fines to that so they cna make more money. If you want to buy bulk tobacco cheap, just go to PA, and buy a 6 month supply. The tobbaco will stay fresh if sealed. PA prices on bulk tobacco are the same or less than reservations with the tax. |
