“NACS has been working for over 10 years to pass legislation to regulate Internet and mail order tobacco sales,” according to NACS Senior Vice President of Government Relations Lyle Beckwith. "Last night’s vote brings us closer to achieving our goal than we have ever been. We shall continue to pressure the House to take the final step necessary for passage and enactment.”

Of course membership is required. These Bastards are hiding their guilt for betraying their tobacco customers.

So, when confronted with unjust and Unconstitutional tobacco taxes, do these Bastards defend their customers and fight for fair and equal taxation. HELL NO!
These Bastards bend over for the Nanny State and when they lose their ass and chase their customers off to online sales, what do they do?
Why, these Bastards lobby for legislation to cement the injustice!
Not only that, these Bastards don't even bother to represent the trade which they by their arrogance are destroying!
I can't even find the RYO products at the local stores that I use.
I've asked about it. The local merchants refuse to carry it.
Light and Ultra-Light smokers are being forced to smoke full-strength tobacco or quit. The NACS are mostly Marlboro lackeys.

Can we *maybe* find the list of NACS members somewhere so we can once again BOYCOTT THEM? If anyone has the list, PLEASE POST IT HERE.

Also, does Kohl's sell tobacco products?

And if there are any other merchant turncoats associated with this PACT ACT, please list them here.

Maybe the Seneca Indians can help us boycott PACT?
That is, if they know who the merchants who support PACT are.

Just to be clear, when a convenience store, gas station, liquor store chain, or any store has been determined to be associated with The PACT ACT, please, do not buy anything from them, and I suggest boycotting the U.S. Post Office.
If you have to send a letter or parcel, send it e-mail or by private carrier. Send it anyway you can, but avoid the Post Office to do so.

Good idea. But how did the USPS support PACT? I thought they were against any regulation placed on them.It is the private carriers like UPS and FedEx that stopped delivering tobacco a long time ago. USPS was the last hurdle and it took Congress to stop USPS from delivering, while UPS and FedEx voluntarily,I think, stopped delivering tobacco.

And to think that cigars were exempted from the PACT act.I wonder how they determined to do that.F--- them all!!

Senate Passage of PACT Act a "Major Win" for Retailers
03/12/2010
The March 11 Senate passage of the Prevent All Cigarette Trafficking Act (PACT Act), which addresses the long-standing convenience store industry concern of tax evasion via remote sellers of tobacco products, is a “major win” for retailers, according to NACS Senior Vice President of Government Relations Lyle Beckwith.

Authored by Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI) and co-sponsored by a bipartisan group of 20 senators, this legislation (S. 1147) would help combat online cigarette sales that have robbed states of badly needed tax revenues and that undermine state laws that prevent youth access to tobacco products.

The PACT Act would strengthen federal laws on cigarettes sold over the Internet. In addition to preventing the U.S. postal service from delivering cigarettes, it would allow states to recover lost excise tax revenue and allow legitimate retailers to recover lost business. Additionally, the PACT Act would prevent sellers from circumventing state laws preventing minors from purchasing cigarettes. Native American lobbyists have been waging a furious battle to de-rail this legislation.

The House version, authored by Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY), previously passed by a vote of 397-11. While passing the PACT Act in the Senate is a major hurdle cleared, because of slight differences in the Senate and House bills, the House will need to take a final vote to accept the Senate version of the bill. It would then go to President Obama’s desk for his signature.

“Senate passage of the PACT Act is a huge victory for American taxpayers, American small business owners and America’s youth,” said Scott Ramminger, president and CEO of the American Wholesale Marketers Association (AWMA) and spokesperson for the Coalition to Stop Contraband Tobacco, of which NACS is a leading member. “We applaud the Senate for its action today and thank Sen. Kohl for his leadership in ensuring that contraband tobacco sales are eliminated.”

“NACS has been working for over 10 years to pass legislation to regulate Internet and mail-order tobacco sales,” said Beckwith. “Last night’s vote brings us closer to achieving our goal than we have ever been. We will continue to pressure the House to take the final step necessary for passage and enactment.”

Membership
While 49 of the top 50 convenience stores in the United States are members of NACS, the majority of its members are small, independent operators. More than 70 percent of its total membership is companies that operate 10 stores or less. This membership base roughly tracks the industry as a whole. Of the 145,000 convenience stores in the United States, 62 percent are owned and operated by someone who only has one store.

The U.S.P.S. would be an unfortunate casualty by association to what is supposed to be Our Government by Equal Representation, but a boycott of U.S.P.S. is probably the only way to put pressure on the federal government.

By comparison, The Boston Tea Party boycotted the shippers to boycott the tea and tax. The tea stayed aboard the ships.

This one is a mystery, since they manufacture "Native Brand cigarettes"as part of the MOHAWK Nation in NY.Maybe it is the fact that they now make FSC and are now distributing Native Brand to local Indian outlets in my state. But by supporting this act they are in defiance of all the other native brands manufactured and available only on the internet.I am ashamed of them for supporting this PACT.There will be an Indian uprising over this,I am sure.I know of one Indian internet outlet that discontinued Native Brand for Signal Brand, and now I know why.

It is disgusting how Big Tobacco is supporting their retailers by stabbing their customers in the back. Otherwise, they've written us off.

I can't prove it, but I think it's because the families who own controlling interests in Big Tobacco (PM, Reynolds) also own controlling interests in the retailers, convenience markets and gas stations.
In other words, it's a monopoly going on.

At the same time, these same people wield power over "Our Elected Officials". Notice the Co-Sponsor list includes John Kerry. His wife controls Heinz (Heinz, Ore-Ida) and Heinz wields power over the supermarkets, so even when these kinds of people do not own controlling interests in the local and national chains of markets, they still control them.

Notice the list includes companies such as "Kellogg Co."? They have nothing to do with tobacco, except for their control of the market by manufacture of unrelated products.
It indicates that the families who control Kellogg are invested in supermarkets, convenience stores, or something relevant to The PACT argument.

The PACT Act was passed by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, March 17. Votes were 387 Yea, 25 Nay, and 18 Not Voting.

Ron Paul of Texas voted Nay. Here is the roll call fo the votes:
http://www.govtrack.us/congress/vote.xpd?vote=h2010-124

ALL your senators voted Yes on this bill. 387 of your Representatives vote Yes. Remember their names. When these people come up for re-election, EGG THEIR CAMPAIGN POSTERS.

They don't listen when we telephone. They don't pay attention when we write. We're a minority, so they don't care how we vote. So make an impact the way we can. EGG THE BASTARDS!

Whenever they see a splat of egg, they'll know an angry smoker spoke.

Let EGGS be our teabags.

It's because we are a majority (14 to 20%+) compared to their scapegoat cancer scarecrows (<1%) while the real majority (non-smokers) would kill these freaks if they ever so much as suggested a tax increase on the non-smokers like the gouging they're sticking to us.

Yes. Eggs, and paintballs would be nice. Can we at least get the message out that the cancer scarecrows account for < 1% (in California), and this figure comes from the cancer society, not from us?
