Welcome to the forum, Monica.

I think what you need to do is maybe go away for a weekend and think about how serious you are about this relationship. Is this person worth making a sacrifice for? Do you want to make that sacrifice in exchange for what you're getting out of the relationship?

If so, then go to your doctor, get some Wellbutrin or Chantix (this drug has been linked to suicide so be very cautious and stop taking it if you start seriously thinking about jumping off a bridge). Talk to your doctor about nicotine replacement therapy and whether or not you can take it with either of these drugs.

I don't know what Chantix does because I have never taken it, but Wellbutrin will block a lot of nicotine cravings, if you do decide to quit. There is plenty of help available if that's the route you decide to take.

You're just going to have to decide if you can be happy as a non-smoker with this person, or if you're going to resent the change so much it damages the relationship. The only person who can decide that is you, and you will not succeed in any quit-smoking attempts unless you are sure you are quitting for your own benefit and not for someone else.

Good luck with whatever you decide. You're fine the way you are, and even if your relationship breaks up, you'll probably find someone who likes you the way you are and doesn't expect you to change anything for their sake.

What a relief! I thought maybe you were really a mole that infiltrated the group and strung us along all this time. It was an eerie sensation.

I clearly remember being flamed by you the first time I posted here. Is that some sort of initiation ritual that every Newbie must endure to be part of the group? I just want you to know it can be quite frightening to Newbies, very scary.

Monica, Runamok is just playing with you!

Runamok is sort of like a Great White Shark, hitting you like a freight train out of nowhere if you say the wrong thing. Sometimes you get nibbled before the actual attack, but sometimes not. You will learn to respect Runamok when swimming in these waters!

Right. I've posted more than 1200 times over the last, I don't know, 5 years, to establish trust as I waited for this opportunity to show my true colors.

Seriously though, I've found that some over the top sarcasm is the best way to get a point across in comment sections of news stories.

Look for rikkylynn's comment on page 2 of the comments and elind56's comment on page 3 (very last comment at the time I linked to it here). They are both me. I sometimes use them to play off of each other to get a point across. In this case I used them both to post some comments dripping with sarcasm.

Up on the top - click the URL button (go find a pic on a net - right click it and hit 'copy image location' )- right click here and paste - then hit the URL button again.

Runamok, I always resort to Sarcasm. If you complain and try to reason your point, everyone thinks you are whining.

Sarcasm cuts through that mental block most tend to have...
It's funny, because once they realize what you are really saying, they think it's their idea...lol

Runamok, you were devilish on that comment section - loved it!

Okay, now we can never be sure if you are arguing with someone else or arguing with yourself. I have always suspected you of being JoshNJ.
