Quote: It's very hard to create an effective movement without dozens of full time dedicated organizers. We have no funding and thus very few people who can afford to spend anywhere near their full time in the fight. Those initial tens of millions grew to over 800 million dollars a year as of 2001. I don't even know what the figure is now.
So very true.
Big Pharma self serving mega donations created the so called grass root groups.
What followed was a creation of an anti smoking industry which now evolved into an anti smoking and anti smoker industry.
The tobacco industry caved in and the hospitality industry more or less folded leaving a few dedicated individuals without financial means to face the well funded nico and health nazi movement.
A few underfunded civil liberty organizations which was willing to stand up(and many choose not to do so)simply do not have the financial ability to counter effectively.
The majority of smokers attitude in general also helped the nico nazi movement.

You hit the nail on the head, SS. Fighting antis back relentlessly(and as feverishly as antis do) is about the only way to beat 'em, nowadays. I have to give pro-business groups in Amarillo, TX, and Kenosha, WI a lot of credit last year, for well organizing themselves, presenting their clear case to voters in both cities via informational meetings of what was at stake if a comprehensive ban passed, and successfully defeating the ban proposals antis placed on the ballot in both cities!
I really am hoping business owners in both Kirkwood, MO, and Saint Louis County, MO(compromising the suburban communities just beyond Saint Louis, but NOT the city of Saint Louis, as it has a separate governing body) organize in a similar way, and defeat comprehensive ban proposals in both places on the ballot this November. |

Another good book to read is "The Planned Destruction of America." It's price has now skyrocketed to over 50.00 for the used paperback! It's a good read and so far, it's going by the book.
Now as far as that Can't Understand Normal Thinking or (C.U.N.T.) for short, I wonder how she feels about abortion? I know it's a touchy subject but when you read about the risks involved, how could anyone target smoking alone?

All the problems associated with that single act driving up healthcare costs but you don't hear them crying and whining about THAT! About having to pay for things brought on by the act.
Fairness! If you're going to go after one, then go after them all!!! If you're going to say "It's a woman's right to choose. It's her body," then BY GOD!! It's MY BODY and I have the right to choose and not be looked down upon for my choice! Friggin' hypocrite!!!! If they put ONE PICTURE of a dead fetus on the packs of cigarettes i'm gonna SCREAM! I thought the main effect of smoking on pregnancy was lower birth weight, but never mind. Lower birth weight wasn't terrifying enough. |

Dead Fetus? Wow, that would be lovely./sarc
(So where can smokers put their picture packs of dead fetuses?)
Cut out the smoking bit - just leave dead fetuses pictures around.....
If dead fetus pictures are OK for smokers - they are OK for everyone, right?
Who's the Guerilla Smoker poster here? Need ideas! |

Support the Smokers' Guerrilla Movement!
It's For The Children - Halloween is coming!
Candy cigarettes are still available on the Internet. Paste dead fetus pictures to the backs of candy cigarette packages. Hand them out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
Get the prissy parents knickers in a twist PLUS no more pesky brats on my doorstep NEXT year!
To paraphrase the 70's song: "You don't hafta be so nice, they're gonna hate you anyhow." |

| That last was a bit too nasty. Costume as a witch and hand them out at the mall on Halloween Eve. Don't forget to write "Compliments of the American Cancer Society" on the back. |
