| Has anyone tried this new Tube Cut tobacco yet? My friend says it came out right after the tax increase and it makes more sticks for the money. It’s from Gambler (are they discontinuing that?). It has a web site: tubecuttobacco.com |

From this link:
http://www.ryotobacco.com/page/ryot/CTGY/expand
Quote: Expanded Tobacco
Expanded tobacco is used to reduce tobacco weight per cigarette. Expanded tobacco is chemically puffed-up like "puffed wheat" and "puffed rice" to 1 1/2 or 2 times its size.
So, I'd really would like to know what the chemicals are that are expanding the tobacco before inhaling - IMHO |

Looks like a "RIP OFF" to me. 8 oz for $41.00. You can get a full pound of Farmers Gold or Golden Harvest, or most other brands for that price.
There is no way that 8 oz of puffed tobacco will make as much as 1 pound of another LOL.
It appears that Rollyourown.com prices are much higher that at other Internet stores.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I can't say for tobacco, but puffed wheat and cheese puffs are expanded by heating under pressure. Then they let the pressure off rapidly which decompresses the steam in the wheat or puff batter while hot. The wheat or puff expands and cools. With these foods, it's a mechanical version of popping popcorn and similar to the operation of an internal combustion engine, though the moisture naturally occurring in the foods is the gas being compressed, heated and expanded.
You're right. That is still much less tobacco for the money. |
