"agency has linked some illegal cigarette sales to the terrorist groups Hezbollah and al Qaeda. In those instances, the sellers bought cartons in Virginia, where there is virtually no tax on cigarettes, and sold them in New York for a hefty profit."
The ATF tries to link these groups to terrorist activity. They have done so. There's no terrorist activity on internet sales, but the people who travel to Richmond and resell up here are called terrorists. This is a win for us, because it is a call for the Federal govt to do something. They can make it illegal for states to impose an excise tax on cigs. I believe this is what the ATF is calling fo to eliminate organized crime. They can't force VA and NC to impose an excise of a certain amount, becasue that would create even more dangerous crimes. People would be hyjacking cig trucks and reselling them in MJ and NY. We'll see what happens, but I believe we're moving towards the end of state excise taxes on cigs. [/quote]
