| Just joined the forum...would like to try MYO but I need to find a shop in CT that sells the supplies. Do the Smokers Discount World stores have everything that I need to get started? If not anyone else here in CT know of a shop I can go to to give it a try? |

There's a decent shop in Enfield.
Rte 91 to the Rt 5 exit [Longmeadow]
West on 5
Forget the name of the place - but you will pass a head-shop on the right before it [don't go there] This place is a small shop also on the right.
If you go to Enfield center - you went too far.
Nice selection of tobacco and tube varieties.
They carry the Supermatic machines too
Owner will order anything for you if you ask and if it's available for him to buy...
There's got to be more places around - but I go to this one - pretty convenient off the highway.
Never been to a smokers discount world store - where are they? |

You can google for smoke shops in your area. Make a few phones calls to them before you go and you should be able to find one nearby. |

| I'm just about to leave for the shop in Enfield. It's called CT Valley Tobacconist and is o9n Hazard Ave. Found their web site and even though it's about an hour ride from Litchfield I have the day off so I'm on my way. There are a few Smokers Discount places around...closest to me is Bristol. I'll try them in the future if I get any replies that they carry supplies. |

Oh no, that's not the place....I was in there a few months ago and they barely had anything and what they had looked old.
Unless they upgraded their stock....It's mostly a Cigar store.
Hope you go up the highway 2 more exits and go to the one I posted about on Rt 5 [Longmeadow exit]- Way Better...
i just checked - the store I was talking about apparently is a smokers world - guess I don't pay attention to signs.

With Luna living in Litchfield, Torrington would be perfectly close.
Mike, how's their selection of tobacco and tubes there?
I get out there once and a while and will check them out.
The Enfield Smokers World is good, and once your done and head back to the highway - go a little further past the exit and get gas @ $0.30 cents cheaper in Longmeadow,MA - will double-pay for the trip. |

Im not sure how their supplies are or how many brands they carry or prices as I have not shopped at this store yet. I will stop by there on Sunday if they are open and update this post.
If they are good I will Try them. I just purchased bulk tobacco online from a place in NC www.cigarettetobacco.com they have a good faq page about RYO/MYO I Know taxes are different for these types of products as far as that goes making it more worthwhile for a little labor save a lot of dough plus they say the tobacco doesnt have additives etc just pure farm grown leaf. Thanks for pointing the other stores out towards Northern Mass I am on the border close too Colebrook. Will also post about this online purchase when I receive it hopefully they are reliable and trustworthy. |

D&R are reliable ,good outfit, I bought tobacco and a machine from them when I first started MYO.
I'm Internet Tax paranoid so I stick to the brick-n-mortar stores in my travels and only buy with cash.{Also can't be tracked as a smoker when the gov't gets around to seizing credit card transactions}
I used to buy cigs from Seneca Hawk years ago, I hope I stopped soon enough - late 90's. NH was close for me, so runs up there were easy and I bought in bulk until I went MYO.
Now I don't have to deal with those gross Fire-Safe Cigs. Actually Pre-Made Cigs taste like crap for me now -Except AS, I spoiled myself....
I can buy a tin of AS tobacco [American Spirit] for under $13 and tubes for around $3 - so a carton is costing me a little over $16 - [can't seem to make the tin go the full carton- but close]
Any Mom-and-Pop stores that do a decent cig business should welcome MYO/RYO customers. If you see stores with large cig sections ask them to order MYO supplies, every Cig distributor can order/deliver MYO too. |
