It seems to me this smoking ban BS is easily solved. All we have to do is organize a few smokers and it most certainly wouldn't require ALL of the smokers to do this. It's very simple;

Select a Friday or Saturday night. Why? Because the cops are way too busy on Friday or Saturday nights to be dealing with BS "crimes' of no consequence whatsoever. (They are far too busy with domestic altercations, DUIs, bar fights, etc.) Have a bunch of smokers select a certain time on whichever Friday or Saturday night is chosen, the later the better. 10 PM is doable, although 11 PM or 11:30 is better. Then have all the smokers placed in whichever areas that smoking is banned, to all light up and start smoking at once.

These cities simply do not have the manpower on a Friday or Saturday night to be tying cops up with 'crimes' that aren't really crimes at all.

It seems to me, if this was done repeatedly, particularly with respect to changing the general location each weekend night (east of a city one week, the south of a city the next week), the point would be made over time, as well as pissing off the antis, which would only be icing on the cake.

So what do you think? Would this work or not?

All except for the fact that organizing smokers is like herding cats. For pretty much the same reasons, independent cusses, you know.

Only in the U.S. In Europe, when bans pop up.they're organizing rapidly.

I wish I lived in Europe where the European smokers take smoking bans very seriously.

If US smokers were like that, smoking bans would've failed a long time ago.

From what I read, it also appears that France will be banning all smoking in bars, restaurants, and cafes starting Jan. 2. They do organize rallies but it doesn't seem to be making any difference.

That article forgot a few countries that've also passed bans, most notably Uruguay. However, I thought that article was interesting, since there were a few countries mentioned that I wasn't aware of bans passing in(most notably Venezuela, but it figures that leftist leader Chavez would favor such a law).

I'm not too worried about the Europe ban situation, since there still are many European countries that chose not to pass total bans at all(i.e. Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Hungary). Not to mention, Spain and Denmark still allow smoking in bars meeting certain requirements. Regardless, this article definitely proves to me how much the anti movement has gotten too power-hungry worldwide since the early 2000s, and considering the time periods when New York City(March 2003) and Ireland(March 2004) both started their total bans.

Horribly-9/11 seemed to speed up the ban/war on smokers tenfold, rather than having the opposite effect. I remember back then-the nazi slime stayed quiet for around 48 hours, then-it was business as usual. They even complained about the new york papers publishing pictures of cops, firemen, and volunteers smoking. I remember the exact words of one nazi who was the head of a smoker-hater group-she wanted cigs and pipes and cigars airbrushed out, saying: "Smokers can't be heroes." And some of you wonder why I'm so filled with hatred for these swine. Twisted Evil
