Well, this was the fourth or fifth time these coc**uckers tried to get this in, and the American Liars (Lung)Association managed to push it through this time.

California Bans Smoking in Cars With Small Children Present
If you're in California and you smoke, you'll want to stub your cigarette out before getting into a car with a small child from now on.

The California State Senate voted 23-14 Monday, to pass a bill banning smoking in vehicles when there are children present who are required by law to be in a safety seat. Kids who are 6 years old and under and weigh less than 60 lbs. will be protected by this new bill, the idea being to shield those children who are too small to protect themselves against the dangers of second hand smoke. Offenders could now be slapped with a $100 fine if caught lighting up.

From Senator Deborah Ortiz: "We all know that secondhand smoke is hazardous. Children are effectively smoking a pack and a half a day for every hour they are exposed to smoke in a car."

Don't know what Ah-Nuld will do, as he has the option to sign it or veto. but he made the comment that people who smoke in cars with children present are bad people, more or less.

I could never be her friend - her obesity would be contagious.
I am highly allergic to SHF [Second Hand Fat]
Damn- there should be a law.............

I think I just gained a few ounces by looking at the picture Cool

I so love/not how people don't get it, how she doesn't get it....She IS Next.

So now CA has a smoking in cars law that's similar to Maine's law.

Parents have the right to smoke within their own property. If the smoke cops don't like it, they can go to he!!.

And for parents who smoke and have kids, maybe the kids oughta wear stocking masks to hide their faces from smoke cops. I wonder if the mothafvckin cop will ask for the kid's ID if he/she looks more like 18 instead of 16 or 17.

It was said once at another board about Arkansas when F**kabee got this passed in his state, that every smoker without kids in the state should buy a car seat and a doll at a garage sale, and then wait for the cops to pull them over. A mass protest. Unfortunately, F**kabee thought of that in advance-you will be pulled over/ticketed in Arkansas even if the car seat is EMPTY!! I don't know what the wording is in other states that did it. Let's face it, this is the next big thing. Then there's nowhere left but your home. And if you're a renter, or own a condo, they're already there.

"Children are effectively smoking a pack and a half a day for every hour they are exposed to smoke in a car."

Am I understanding this statement correctly? Is she saying that an hour of exposure to SHS in a car is the equivalent of actively smoking a pack and a half?

That would be the same as me smoking a cigarette every 2 minutes for an hour which is, for all practical purposes, impossible. The average smoker might smoke 2 in an hour (with the window open of course) so, according to her, the SHS that the child passively inhales from those 2 cigarettes that I actively smoke is the equivalent of the child actively smoking 30 cigarettes.

And we're losing battle after battle?......to these people?? With logic like that I'm surprised she can even find her fat ass enough to wipe it.

According to Wikipedia, Deborah Ortiz "termed out" in 2006. What am I missing here?

If I remember correctly, the reasoning behind the statement about SHS from 1 cigarette an hour being equal to smoking 30 cigarettes an hour is that children's lungs are so much smaller.

I don't buy it though. My own son was always exposed as both his parents smoked 2 packs a day. There was always a cigarette going in the car too, and we took lots of road trips down to NYC and NJ from Cape Cod to visit family back then. He survived just fine. NO asthma, bronchitis or anything else they want to state.

I can easily smoke 4 or 5 cigarettes in an hour. Piece of cake. hehehe Laughing

Bwahahahahah!!! This is also from the Wikipedia entry Smallbird posted:

Notable issues of which she has campaigned for include stem cell research, and preventing obesity.

I think this fat [beeyotch] ought to take a look in the mirror.

What I think happened is this fat pig termed out, then probably hooked up with some "special interest" group to force her will on others. My states biggest smoke-nazi, Jeanne Weigum, retired from the city council to head anti-smoker efforts.
