| I don't think this will hold, but it is California. I know they can't do this in my state, NJ. Each state does their own thing on that. CA, NY, FL, HI, and MA . are what we call Natzi states on here for their smoking bans and regulation. Those states are probably the only states where a ban like that can get on the books, but I would just ignore it. |

I wanted to reply to the post. I feel that the policy does suck ass, and the only reason it would hold is because it is in California.
My school in Louisiana tried a similar approach, but nobody complied with it. The "designated smoking areas" wouldn't be all too bad in themselves, however it was WHERE they chose to put them (usually at the Northern end of a building), which led to all the smokers getting drenched with rain (and it rains quite often here). Eventually, everyone said fuck that, and went back to smoking where they felt like. A few people even smoke in the restrooms - God Bless them!
Anyhow, should they chose to implement the designated smoking areas again, I would strongly encourage them to build covered facilities (they said it would happen, but never did).
Again, this is Louisiana and people usually do what they feel like (they just recently put a law on the books that bans passengers from having open containers of alcohol....... before then, it was ok). |

| There ain't now way I would follow this silly policy. If they were truly trying to "promote health" then they would force overweight people to hit the treadmills, ban diabetics form eating desserts and sweets, etc etc etc. Hypocrisy sucks. |
