Wife's Tongue Severed In Fight Over Smoking
Husband Faces Second-Degree Attempted Murder Charges 2:01 pm EDT June 14, 2007
MINNEAPOLIS -- Authorities allege an argument over smoking led a
Brooklyn Center, Minn., man to slash his wife's throat, severing her
tongue and windpipe.
Authorities said Meg Lundeen and her husband, Randy Aaser, visited a
couple bars with friends and colleagues to celebrate her 30th
birthday Friday night. According to the complaint, she told a friend
she wanted to buy cigarettes, but that she had quit smoking and that
her husband would be mad if he found out.
Authorities said Lundeen was attacked later at the couple's house.
Aaser has been charged with second-degree attempted murder. He's
being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Lundeen remains in critical condition. Doctors reattached her tongue,
but it's not clear yet how her ability to speak or taste will be
affected. |

| That depends on the Prison Policy and whether it is enforced. |

| Anyway, whatever the prison rules, there will be inmates who want to smoke, and they will slice that maniac to pieces. He'll be better off killing himself! But that's too good for him! |

| My prediction: the judge sentences the guy to a work-release program at the Board of Health as a barroom smoking ban enforcement agent. Why should he get cruel and unusual punishment when we're committing attempted murder every day? (This would have been a joke prediction once upon a time but you know I may turn out to be right.) |
