Hi everyone,
I've created a new poll, because I haven't been able to smoke this week due to a extremely bad cold - I don't enjoy it, nothing!! The odd thing is, since I feel so crappy, I don't even get nic fits Anyhow, I was wondering for all the other smokers what you do when you are unable to smoke. Last year I had bronchitis really bad (tried to smoke but couldn't), and ended up dipping...... what other ways do you get your nicotine when you are so ill you can't smoke?
Just wondering..... Have a good day, and pray that I will be able to return to smoking soon - dipping is better than nothing, but nothing is better than smoking |

Whoops, the poll Q didn't mention what do you do if you are ill. I thought it meant like "What do you do if you can't smoke for a long time because of smoking being prohibited?" Like on a long airplane flight. In that situation, I'd just simply smoke, and chainsmoke lots of cigs, when I get off of that plane (or when I leave my job at supposedly smoke-free Soldier Field).
Now if I was very ill, and couldn't smoke for a long period of time, I'd just wait until I recover from the ill and my nic fits return. I haven't been very ill in a long time, but the few times when I was ill, I tried to smoke. However, the cigs made me feel worse while feeling ill, so I just decided to put them away until I felt better (from getting over the illness).
Dipping is the last thing I'd do if I "needed nicotine." Dipping is a lot worse than smoking, and I'm glad cigs exist period. Smoking cigs is an easier way for me to get nicotine without cutting my life rapidly short from dipping (and without the brown teeth and stinky breath). I met a Cub fan on my last job this baseball season who dips. He hates smoking though. He told me "You shouldn't have a very expensive habit." I politely told him "Well, didn't you pay a high price for that Skoal can?" He had the cherry-flavored Skoal. We chatted for a while and seeing him spit tobacco out was gross (I didn't tell him that) and I could even smell the cherry tobacco in his breath. It was a lot easier to smell than smokers' breath.
If I ever need nicotine when I'm ill (although my fits aren't there), I'd rather chew a piece of nicotine gum or wear a nicotine patch than dip tobacco. That's just me, but if anyone wants to dip when they can't smoke, then dip. No offense at all (unlike C's anti posts), honest! That's your choice to dip, not mine.
It is sad some regular dippers have the impression dipping is safer than cigs, and dipping is like "chewing gum/candy." I wish more baseball players smoked (as I heard in the old days with Cub players smoking in their Wrigley dugout; Walter Jacobson, a Chicago news reporter said that). There are still a lot of baseball players that dip, and I'm not surprised on Sammy Sosa wanting a tobacco ban....as long as it's not a smoking tobacco ban for the players. |
