The state of Arkansas just passed a bill to banned smoking in all public places, motels, etc. Plus the Gov. of that state wants to ban smoking in your own car. When is it going to end? I agree to a point that smoking is bad for you, but i feel that is my right to make that decision. Does the Goverment think they have the right to tell us what to do? I thought they worked for us, we pay their salaries but for some reason the smokers arent being asked what they want. There was no vote from the public on this decision to ban state wide smoking. So how do we smokers fight back?

Great question and one that I have started asking this past week also.

Here is what I have done so far, and am open to more sugestions.

Do the research, read the propaganda from both sides.

Write a letter to the editor of the local paper, or many papers.

Spread the word to other smokers you see on the street. Most I have approached are shocked to learn of the depth of these bans even into peoples cars, outdoors, and apartment buildings.

Stay Plugged in and vocal, and try not to get overtly enraged when discussing/ debating - because I have found that no matter what the facts, many anti-smokers will not concede an inch.

I try to remember that I am not really debating smoking as much as I am debating personal freedoms and property owners rights. I hate the smell of Curry in and around Indian Restaurants - but I would argue for not banning Curry just as adamantly. It should be up to each business to decide.

Sorry to rant, maybe some oldtimers here can give us a more structured attack plan.
