These machines are INJECTORS, NOT Stuffers. It has been my experience over the past 8 years using the supermatic that if your tobacco is too shaggy, dust-like, or fine, the injector will not work and get clogged up. The supermatic is pricy and I have gone through 2 of them in 8 years. I think the newer models have been made tougher. That said, however, I just junked my second supermatic premiere machine and am in the market for a new one. The Topomatic is about 20 bucks cheaper and I am leaning that way. Is the internal mechanism in the top machine the same? It seems that with the premiere machines, once you open them up and start messing with the components, you can never quite get it back to factory specs. Especially when messing with the plastic parts.

I went through two Supermatics over the last few months. Started with the plastic one [broke it] then the Metal blue Supermatic with the length adjustment [jammed that one too] Now I'm on the Supermatic 11 - Gold colored machine - this seems like the best so far for me.
If I ever run across a Topomatic - I will grab one.

On the tobacco - I was using American Spirit organic and natural - many times it was too dry and would fall right out the cigarette. I'm now using People's True Choice Natural - out of KY - 1 lb bag for $18 - good stuff.
The Tobacco has more moisture and holds better for me.

I will throw my loose tobacco - when I'm getting low in the pile next to the machine- into a colander - and shake it around to let the small pieces go to the table.

I keep a container of the 'shake' tobacco - when I have a bunch - I spread it out in the yard. I've heard that tobacco is an ingredient in some pesticides - hoping to get rid of the massive grub/mole issue in my yard this year.

And for all those who are lousey cig tappers - like myself - I figured out a trick....after injecting 10 or so - I grab the pile and tap all of them down together - works great and it will go faster than tapping each one.

Well, still going strong with my TopOMatic. It is heavy metal, has a great no slide base and the only thing I had to do for an adjustment was to take out the metal part to adjust for 100's. That was just loosen a screw on the outside made especially for it.
Saved myself a bundle already. Here in Washington State a carton goes for $50.00. Instead of like others and driving over to an Idaho Indian Reservation for a carton at $35.00, I buy my tobacco bagged here in town and order my tubes over the internet.
Smoking has never been more enjoyable!

We had a Supermatic. It was our first machine. It was always stiff. After a time, it wouldn't pack the tobacco to the filter end. We contacted Premier. They told us that this problem was due to a bent H-link, and we needed to send it back for service. The repair was free, but the cost for shipping (both ways) was high. We needed another machine to use while it was out for service. There were no Supermatics available for us to buy, so we bought a Top-O-Matic. That was a Godsend. The Top-O-Matic was a far superior machine - and a little cheaper. Replacing (purchasing) parts was easier as well. It can be done on the phone with a credit card instead of sending a photocopy of your driver's license to Premier. With the TOP machine, you can virtually use 2 fingers and a thumb to move the handle. Our Supermatic returned from its service, and worked as hard as it did when we bought it. I give two thumbs up to the TOP machine. I really don't understand why it works better since they look virtually identical on the inside, but it does. Go with Top-O-Matic.

Might want to try the moist cotton ball to adjust the moisture level in the tobacco.
I keep mine in a tupperware with the cotton overnite and the next morning it's back. J.C. don't cull nuttin over a moisture adjustment Wink
